I just watched an episode of Dr. Oz that discussed the symptoms of anemia (low iron levels). Some of the questions he asked:
1) do you feel winded after climbing a flight of stairs?
2) do you feel cold when everyone else is comfortable?
3) are your nails brittle?
Vitamin C helps with iron absorption so some easy food combinations to incorporate into a diet include:
1) kale or spinach salad with strawberries
2) omelette with red peppers
His show recommended a daily intake of 18 mg of iron and 75 mg of vitamin c per day could be helpful. As always, check with your physician for medical advice.
Another great resource is this article by the Mayo Clinic on iron deficiency anemia: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/iron-deficiency-anemia/basics/prevention/con-20019327
Customers have shared a lot of tips plus I've learned quite a bit working in the industry. It feels great to share information that may help someone else.
